We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to join our manufacturing partner in Nyíregyháza. This role is accountable for the accounting function, tax compliance, and SAP S/4HANA FI module management at the Hungarian plant. Requires strong expertise in Hungarian and EU tax regulations, Hungarian Accounting Standards (HAS), and IFRS. Manages end-to-end accounting processes, tax filings, and risk controls, as well as financial reporting, ensuring efficient and compliant operations within a multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and continuously improve HAS/IFRS-compliant accounting processes, covering GL, AP/AR, assets, and cost accounting.
- Ensure accurate, complete transaction recording and reconciliation from source data to financial statements.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports (BS, P&L, CF), supporting both local statutory and group reporting requirements in SAP S/4HANA.
- Coordinate audits, provide documentation, and maintain compliant accounting records and archives.
- Manage all Hungarian and EU tax obligations (CIT, VAT, payroll), including filings, payments, and registrations.
- Oversee tax planning, risk identification, and compliance, acting as the main contact for authorities and audits.
- Ensure adherence to transfer pricing and cross-border tax rules, monitoring regulatory changes and adjusting processes accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and compliant tax documentation and records.
- Operate and develop SAP S/4HANA FI processes, ensuring dual HAS/IFRS compliance.
- Support cost center accounting and collaborate with controlling to ensure accurate cost allocation.
- Lead financial closing activities and drive process improvements and system optimization.
- Cooperate with IT and Group Finance on system enhancements, testing, and issue resolution.
- Lead and support the accounting team, setting standards and ensuring high-quality delivery.
- Act as a key finance partner to internal stakeholders, Group Finance, and external advisors.
- Ensure strong compliance with corporate policies and internal controls in a multinational environment.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in Accounting Manager, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Strong knowledge of Hungarian accounting standards, IFRS, and local tax regulations.
- Advanced user of SAP and financial reporting tools (Excel, PowerPoint).
